City breaks and short holidays can give us a taste for travel.

But for some, those brief getaways are just not enough to quench our thirst for adventure.

Many of us feel that urge to explore, and while some are satisfied with their own back gardens, others are true adventurers at heart.

Arguably, the luckiest among us are those who have the luxury of being able to travel for work, whether for brief business trips or long-term stints. And while a travelling career may seem like flight of fancy, it doesn’t have to be – these are just five that will help you satisfy your wanderlust.

1) Flight Attendant

This is perhaps the most obvious of travel related careers. However, it is also one of the easiest to get into, as companies will generally prioritize previous customer service experience over traditional qualifications. And as with any travelling career, the ability to speak a second language is plus, but it is certainly not a requirement.

Admittedly, the role is not for everyone – the hours can be erratic, and the work is hard. But as a flight attendant, you will have the opportunity to visit cities you’ve only ever dreamed about.

2) Teacher

Roles teaching English as a Foreign Language are always in high demand and can allow you to travel to a wonderful variety of places.

Most companies will require a relevant Bachelor’s degree and previous teaching experience, so it’s important to check this out before you apply.

3) Photographer

What begins as a hobby can sometimes develop into a full-time career, and for those with a creative streak, photography can be a fantastic opportunity to travel the world and build up your portfolio. Set up your own business and use an expert agency such as Maratopia Digital Marketing to build an online presence that gets your name and images out into the world.

Working as a photographer is a great way to meet the locals and visit destinations that provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist hotspots.

4) Travel Writer

As with photography, it will take time for you to perfect your craft.

But for the wordsmiths out there, the writer’s life is a dream come true. There are some few and far between roles for full-time travel writers, but to enjoy the full flexibility of the authorial lifestyle, freelancer websites are a great way to work, especially when you’re just starting out.

5) Bartender

If you’re sharp with a cocktail shaker, you could always consider taking your bar skills abroad. Bartending opportunities exist all over the world — anywhere there are tourists, there are bars. This career is a great way to for you to meet new people and its perfect for the night owls of the world.

Previous bar experience is useful to have, and you’ll need the correct work visa. However, with all that in place, this can be an excellent way for you to fund your travels.

These are just five fantastic careers that can lead you around the world.
