If you’re currently planning your next girls’ trip, you might want to consider Las Vegas as a potential destination.
It might not spring to mind as an immediately obvious place for you and the girls to go, but the glitz and glamour of the Strip, combined with the surprising number and diversity of activities on offer, make it an excellent place to think about visiting.
From gambling to dining and drinking and everything in between, there’s a ton to do in Las Vegas, so without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best things you can do on a girls’ trip to Vegas!
Become a high roller at the casinos
Obviously, the Las Vegas strip is well-known for its casinos, and one of the best things you can do on a girls’ trip to the city is to get dressed up in your finest and go hit the gambling dens.
There’s nothing quite like the fantasy of wearing a glitzy cocktail dress and winning big at the blackjack table, after all!
Of course, you should gamble responsibly, and make sure that you’re not going just to win, because you might be disappointed. It’s all about immersing yourself in the experience of Vegas, not just raking in the winnings.
Go for a spa day
There are plenty of places in Vegas to get pampered; the Waldorf Astoria spa, the , and the are just a few locations you can check out for a massage or a pedicure.
After all, hitting Vegas when you know you’re looking and feeling your best elevates the experience beyond a simple trip and takes it into the realms of unforgettable!
Make sure you book ahead where possible, because spa venues in Vegas are often very busy and highly in demand, and you don’t want to be disappointed.
Take a stroll
Why not set aside some time for you and your girls simply to take a walk around Vegas and drink in the many sights it has to offer?
Las Vegas can be an overstimulating place, but if you give yourself over to its sights and sounds, you’ll immerse yourself in a synaesthetic landscape that must be seen to be believed.
Make sure that your valuables are protected while you wander, though, because Vegas - like many other places - can be a haven for pickpockets and thieves.
Take a ride on the High Roller
If you’re unfamiliar with the Vegas High Roller, you simply must add this incredible sightseeing opportunity to your itinerary. You’re not likely to find anything like it anytime soon!
Put simply, it’s a massive observation wheel that takes you over 500 feet above the Strip, allowing you to see the whole operation from a bird’s eye view.
It’s a wonderful way to take in Vegas, and you and your girls won’t be able to forget what you see while you’re up there. At the very least, it’ll give you a story to tell when you return!
Try a helicopter tour
If the High Roller doesn’t appeal to you for whatever reason, then you and the girls may want to give a helicopter tour of Vegas or the Grand Canyon, which is also in Nevada, a try.
The Grand Canyon is a sobering and humbling experience, so it’s perfect for any of your girlfriends who happen to be more spiritually-inclined or who find the glitz of Vegas a little too much.
You’ll want to set aside a day or two for this experience, though, as it can take time to get to the Canyon and back.
Go clubbing
Obviously, one of the biggest and most important ways to spend time in Las Vegas, especially if you go with your girls, is to go clubbing.
Vegas has a rich and thriving nightclub scene; we’d especially recommend Drai’s and Omnia, both of which are great Vegas clubs that you can incorporate into a casino tour.
Drinks can be somewhat overpriced, but if you’re visiting Vegas, you’re probably already prepared for that to be the case, so make sure you pack in enough spending money when you hit the town, wherever you happen to go.
Dine out
To many, Las Vegas isn’t well-known for its cuisine, but we think that’s a crying shame, because some of the best food in the USA (if not the world!) can be found in Vegas.
Vegas’ branch of the NoMad restaurant is an excellent place to start, with rich, cultured cuisine available, and we’re big fans of the Japanese-inspired joint Mizumi as well.
Again, you’re going to be spending a fair amount on fine dining in Vegas, so it’s important to allocate enough spending money to the restaurant you’re visiting. You don’t want to disappoint the girls on a night out, after all!
Take some snapshots
If you’re looking for a less expensive way to spend time in Vegas that won’t break the bank…well, you might be disappointed. It’s a pretty money-minded town, after all!
However, one way you and your girlfriends can enjoy a great time in Vegas without spending too much money is simply to take a walk around the place and take some snapshots.
Take a few selfies in front of iconic structures, snap photos of your girls doing silly things around town, and generally make some memories; those will be what you return to when you remember this trip in future.
Venture outside the Strip
Las Vegas isn’t just about the Strip, you know. While that part of town may dominate many people’s cultural understanding of Vegas, it’s not all you’re going to find there.
For instance, the city’s arts district has lots of thought-provoking fare to give your brain a workout. The New York Times described this part of Vegas as “the least Vegas neighbourhood in Vegas”.
You’d be surprised at just how much there is to do when you leave the Strip and try to sample the delights of Vegas away from the bright lights and loud noises.
Visit the Springs Preserve garden
A botanical garden might be the last thing you expect to find in Vegas given that the city is surrounded by desert, but that’s exactly what the Springs Preserve garden offers.
Featuring a huge collection of native cacti and other plants, Springs Preserve is a great place to go if you want to spend some time contemplating the beauty of nature.
It’s about the most un-Strip thing you can possibly do in Vegas, too, so if you’re determined to take your girls away from the hustle and bustle of Vegas’ centre, this is a good place to go.
Take a bus tour
Don’t have much time to spend walking around Vegas and trying to uncover sights and sounds for yourself? We’d highly recommend taking a bus tour.
Many different bus operators work in and around Vegas, and they’ll be more than happy to take you through the city, detailing all of the most important places and things to see.
Bear in mind that you may have to book a Vegas bus tour in advance, because they’re often very heavily booked, but you may be able to find one that’s not full if you check during off-peak hours.
Visit a Vegas museum
Believe it or not, Vegas is rich with American history, and there are a number of great museums in the city that you can visit if you want to learn something new with your girlfriends.
The Shelby American Museum, for instance, is perfect if any of your girls have a thing for cars (and many do!), and the Atomic Testing Museum makes a great companion piece to the recent movie Oppenheimer.
For a taste of the underside of Vegas’ glitz and glamour, try the Mob Museum, which has lots of information about American gangsters outside of Chicago.
Catch a movie at the West Wind drive-in theatre
What’s one of the most romantic and quintessentially American things you can do? Why, catch a movie at a drive-in cinema, of course!
That’s where the excellent West Wind drive-in movie theatre comes in. Showing a selection of films throughout the day, including many of the most recent hits, the West Wind is a great place to take your girls.
Grab some popcorn, sit in the boot of your car, and enjoy a movie experience that only the USA can truly provide.
